DrYambayamba Kapenga Marc

Medical doctor and epidemiologist, lecturer in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Kinshasa School of Public Health, DR Congo.  As a researcher, I use quantitative and qualitative methods and systems thinking to study infectious diseases. I have experience in One Health implementation, infectious disease surveillance, and multisectoral coordination in Africa. I completed a PhD in Epidemiology & Biostatistics at the University of Zurich in 2026, where my research focused on strengthening One Health governance and knowledge integration for the prevention of emerging infectious diseases in the DRC and Guinea, using quantitative and qualitative methods. Before moving to PhD, I served as DRC Country Manager for the Africa One Health University Network (AFROHUN) from 2020 to 2023, where I supported national One Health coordination structures, developed and delivered training, and contributed to policies and programs to strengthen multisectoral capacity. In parallel, I have taught One Health, epidemiology, biostatistics, and disease surveillance as a faculty lecturer at the Kinshasa School of Public Health. My work is driven by a strong interest in pandemic prevention, preparedness, health security, and sustainable One Health systems, with a focus on translating evidence into operational and policy-relevant action. I am particularly interested in roles that combine infectious diseases research, program management, surveillance strengthening, and multisectoral coordination at national or global levels.
