BIO
Dr Trisasi Lestari is a medical doctor with specific training and expertise in epidemiology, hospital management and implementation research. She gained knowledge and skills in implementation research through several Implementation research fellowship programs organized by the WHO/TDR and the Alliance for Health Policy and System Research. Dr Lestari has more than 10 years research and teaching experience. Her research mainly focus on healthcare quality improvement, particularly related to tuberculosis control. In her PhD research she have the opportunity to use existing implementation research frameworks to improve tuberculosis contact screening and management in Papua. In addition, she collaborated with local stakeholders, national and international institutions/researchers, bringing about substantial improvement in the study sites, and produced policy brief and peer-reviewed publications. Her early publications were related with unreported caseload of tuberculosis (TB) in 120 public and private hospitals in Indonesia, particularly childhood TB. This study was then followed with a study to explore how general practitioners managed TB cases in their private clinics. Focus on childhood tuberculosis has been continued in her PhD study, which is focusing on strengthening health system to improve tuberculosis contact investigation and preventive treatment in Papua, Indonesia. Her study provide evidences that tuberculosis contact investigation and preventive treatment for child contacts can be implemented in remote area such as Papua.
