Dad, husband, wayward molecular biologist and MD of Inís Communication: I enjoy helping global health initiatives achieve greater impact and visibility through innovative communications and strategic thinking.
I previously held positions with the World Health Organization, the UN Joint Programme on AIDS, and was co-founder of two international NGOs. These positions mainly involved visioning, development, execution and management of initiatives and communication strategies, as well as conceptualization, writing/editing and designing hundreds of global health-related information products such as publications, technical guidelines and policy materials. I was also Scientific Editor of two popular scientific journals: the British Journal of Haematology and the European Journal of Cancer.
I obtained a PhD through my research on the molecular mechanisms underlying the growth of prostate and breast cancers at the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff. At about 30, I switched tack from research to focus on promoting the public understanding of science and health... and never looked back.
Born in south London in 1961, I have worked in over 30 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America. I spend my time between Bournemouth/UK and Chiang Mai/northern Thailand (travel restrictions permitting).
