MrTilak Chandra Nath

Dr. Tilak Chandra Nath is a TDR affiliate, Parasitologist, and Public Health researcher from Bangladesh. He is a Faculty of the Department of Parasitology, Sylhet Agricultural University, Bangladesh. Additionally, he has been teaching Environmental Health at the School of Public Health, MIT World Peace University, India. He is also coordinating “Parasite Resource Bank, Bangladesh” where he is investigating the interactions between human, animal, and environmental parasites, following the One Health approach. He received Ph.D. in Medicine (majoring Parasitology) from Chungbuk National University, South Korea, and MPH from University of Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. He did MSc (Parasitology) and DVM from Sylhet Agricultural University, Bangladesh. He undertook “Biology of vector-borne diseases” course at the University of Idaho, USA, and “Health research mentorship” course at AHRI, Ethiopia. He received several scholarships including Global Korea Scholarship (Korea), WHO/TDR Scholarship, DANIDA fellowship, TDR mentorship grant, University of Idaho Award, ICTMM grant, etc. He has been awarded “President Award” by National Institute for International Education (NIIED), Korea for his outstanding Ph.D. dissertation. He is involved in several research and capacity-strengthening projects in the Global South. His research interests include biogeography of parasitic diseases, molecular diagnostics of neglected tropical diseases, development of intervention strategies to mitigate the impact of zoonotic parasites, improvement of policy implementation, parasite conservation, and biobanking. Away from academics, he likes traveling, cooking, and listening to music.
