Rachel Afaayo Nakatugga is a 2026 TDR Implementation Research Fellow at University of Ghana. She is public health researcher, a health services specialist, and the program manager at East Africa Centre for Vaccines and Immunization (ECAVI). She is also the course coordinator, a trainer and students assistant of various courses at ECAVI. She serves as a member on the immunization services delivery committee of Uganda, and poses good hands-on experience, knowledge and understanding of immunization systems of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and South Sudan. Rachel has contributed to over 10 peer-reviewed scientific papers. Her research interests include immunization health systems, vaccine preventable diseases eradication strategies, capacity building for young researchers and vaccinologists, as well as adolescent; women and the aging health support in Africa. Rachel aspires to further her career in research so that she can contribute toward an Africa free of preventable diseases.
