My professional outlook has been to provide strategic leadership and coordination in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of health services including managing resources for impact and to build and maintain relationship with stakeholders and partners for the attainment of health related Sustainable Development Goals aligned with Health Sector goals and objectives.
Trained as a nurse and with additional qualifications in health service administration and public health, Patience has over 20 years experience in the Ghanaian Health System serving in various capacities and positions. Currently serve as a Municipal Director of Health Services in one of Ghana’s most populous and vulnerable municipalities where I lead health policy implementation at both community and household levels in the prevention and treatment of both communicable and non-communicable diseases.
I been recognized and awarded for outstanding performance and leadership by various organizations.
I am a fellow of International Public Health Leadership; University of Washington Seattle; and a PHD candidate at the University of Ghana School of Public Health, have undertaken several training and capacity building courses including WHO-TDR Implementation Research course project management, coaching and the World Bank Flagship course on health systems..
Over the years, I have participated in various research projects including Community-led Responsive and Effective Urban Health Systems (CHORUS), which is currently ongoing. Adoptive Collaborative Learning on Quality Improvement, a collaboration between the International Health Institute, UBORA Institute and the Ghana Health Service, Integrated Hospital Based Infectious Disease Surveillance Project “Global Disease Detection and Response Program’s IHBIDS Intermittent Preventive Treatment of Malaria in Pregnancy (IPTp): Assessing the New Implementation Strategy in Peri-Urban (Kpone-On-Sea) And Urban (Maamobi) Communities in Ghana. “A collaboration between Institute for Research Development (IRD), School of Public, Health (SPH), Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) and the Ghana Health Service (GHS)with Funding from Expertise France through the French Embassy in Ghana among others.
My professional affiliations include Chartered Institute of Administration and Management Consultants (CIAMC) Ghana, District Directors of Health Services Group Ghana, .Association of Health Services Administrators, Ghana and Ghana Registered Nurses Association.
My voluntary engagements include being an adjunct lecturer at Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants (CIAMC) Ghana; a mentor at University of Ghana Business School, being the Vice President for the University of Ghana Business School 2003 Alumni Association and a women leader in her local church.
