María Soledad Burrone is a Medical Doctor, Master of Public Health and Doctor of Medicine, with training in biostatistics, epidemiology and qualitative research.
Dr. Burrone has more than ten years of experience in epidemiological research and public health, with a focus on community mental health. He has worked in teaching and academic tasks of undergraduate and postgraduate specialties, masters and doctorates. To date, she has published 12 scientific articles as first author and more than 47 articles in total. She is also co-author of 8 book chapters and has more than 123 presentations at national and international scientific conferences.
His research focuses on community approaches to integrate people with severe mental health disorders, as well as into mental health systems in Latin America, and stigma. In this area, she has participated in several research projects in populations of Argentina and Chile.
Currently, Dr. Burrone is Director and Associate Professor of the Institute of Health Sciences, University of O'Higgins, Chile. In addition, she is the principal researcher and director of an applied research project of social innovation for socio-labor inclusion and reduction of stigma in people with mental health disorders funded by Fondo de Innovación para la Competitividad (FIC) of the Gobierno Regional, Región de O’Higgins, Chile.
