BIO
Margaret has a background in medical anthropology and epidemiology with a PhD from the University of Basel. Interested in research impact, she been leading work in this area that brings together the experiences of research institutions in Africa, Asia and Europe. In the last last 24 years, she has risen through the ranks of the research ladder from a research assistant to become a seasoned and internationally renowned scientist. Since 2004, has been been Director of the Dodowa Health Research Centre. From humble beginnings with only a few partners, she has been able to attract several funders and grants to the institution on projects related to Neglected tropical disease, malaria, TB and maternal and Child health, sanitation, social protection to mention a few. In this period, she has worked at the intersection between health research and practice building research capacity Nationally and Internationally and leading the authorship and facilitation of the recently launched WHO/TDR toolkit on Implementation Research. She has demonstrated international leadership through serving as member, chair and or CoChair on several task forces, steering committees and working groups for the World Health Organization, the Task force for Global health, the Standing committee of the National Institute of Health Washington DC, the EDCTP to mention a few. In Academia, she hold Adjunct professorial and senior lecturer positions in Georgetown University, Brunel University and the University of Ghana, and have supervised several masters and PhD students. She is a reviewer and Associate editor for a number of international journals and has over 60 publications in peer reviewed journals to her credit.
She is currently the director of the Centre for Health Policy and implementation Research in the institute for Health research at the University of Health and Allied Sciences Ho, Ghana
