Medical Doctor (MD) with two Masters of Science relevant to Public Health. The first MSc in Epidemiology (Implementation Science) was obtained from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. The second MSc in Health Economics and Decision Science is from the University College London, United Kingdom. Dr Habonimana has worked in NGOs, Academic and Research Institutions mainly in Africa. He is a WHO/TDR Alumni, Chevening Alumni, former International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) Research Fellow, and former Associate Fellow at Evidence for Sustainable Human Development Systems in Africa (EVIHDAF). Dr Habonimana has received two international merit awards:
1. The WHO Special World No Tobacco Day award 2018, by current WHO Director General Dr Tedros ADHANOM GHEBREYESUS;
2. The African Youth Special Award by the International Youth Foundation, Maryland, USA (2014)
