DrCristina Maria Elizondo

After my training as a doctor, I did a Residency in Internal Medicine during which, in addition to disciplinary knowledge, I developed skills in managing complex clinical situations, empathy and teamwork. Later, I became a research fellow achieving my professional training in Clinical Research. I excel in communication, leadership and project management skills. I am dedicated, enthusiastic about learning new knowledge, persistent when facing upcoming challenges, and committed to designated tasks.
For more than 10 years I have been performing my professional activities in the Internal Medicine Research Unit, where I develop and lead interdisciplinary research works, provide advice on research methodology to different professionals of the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires and enhance research training in the postgraduate Clinical and Surgical Residencies in the University.
The main focuses of my research have been different clinical diseases that the Hospital receives with high frequency due to its highly complex specialization (Thromboembolic Disease -clinicaltrial.gov NCT01372514-, Pulmonary Hypertension -clinicaltrial.gov NCT01501838-, Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia -clinicaltrial.gov NCT01761981- and Hip Fracture in the elderly -clinicaltrial.gov NCT02279550-). In recent years I have developed the research topic focus in Noncommunicable Chronic Diseases and specialized care for elderly patients. I also led my research topic on medication in the elderly and its clinical consequences of the Potentially Inappropriate Medications use, which is the axis of my Doctoral Thesis. I am an expert in the construction of Patients Registries and Real Word Evidence, methodology of observational studies, Implementation Research and Electronic Health Records and Secondary Data Base analysis.
In turn, I professionalized my teaching abilities through the Specialization in Education for Health Professionals (University SoTL). I give research training to residents of all Hospital Specialties and to undergraduate medical students. In postgraduate education and academic management I work as academic secretary in the directors team of the Clinical Research Master's Degree of the Instituto Universitario Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires.
During the Sars-Cov2 pandemic, I developed tasks of writing and implementing health sanitary protocols at the Ministry of Health of the City of Buenos Aires.
