BIO

At the moment I would highlight two evolving main interests: 1) behavior change, as a critical component for preventing health problems; 2) pattern diagnosis, as the promissing way ahead for new highly sensitive methods. These two interests are applicable in many problems besides health hazards. I have been working at the interface with Physics and Mathmatics for pattern diagnosis developments. In mid 2000's I was the coordinator of a study that disclosed the magnetic behavior of Schistosoma (a flat-worm parasite) eggs, that led to a highly sensitive diagnostic method, through isolation of these eggs from large amounts of fecal material. I have been collaborating with mathematicians with modeling for performance evaluation of very sensitive methods. Currently we are standardizing a near infra-red spectrometric assay for diagnosis that can eventually be applied to many other infections both human and veterinary. I have an open mind for new ideas and innovative/disruptive solutions. I am deeply concerned about the climate emergency and planetary big challenges we are facing now.
