BIO

Dr. Ayat is a Community Medicine Consultant and Academia (Researcher & Lecturer) with over 10-years’ experience in the domain of public health, reproductive health, and health systems. I worked at national, regional and global level. I widely traveled to attend and present seminars and conferences on reproductive health, health workforce and health system. I contributed to revival and strategic shift and focus on Human Resource for Health (HRH).

Achievements: I led the first mapping of health and medical educational pipeline survey and set the base for the first migration management policy in the country in Sudan, the health labor market study with WHO-HQ/EMRO/AFRO and HRH migration study. I founded the Darfur Call project through MedSIN-Sudan and establish Rebuilding Reproductive and Child Health system in Post Conflict Settings Initiative [ReReCHI). As a researcher, I highlight skill mix imbalance, huge shortages in health workers, feminization of the health workforce through the quarterly advocacy newsletter ‘Observatory Eye’. As a reporter of the HRH Research Forum, I established a platform where intellectuals, policymakers, and academics could meet to discuss hot topics around HRH. Recently, as the UK & Ireland focal point of the SMSB, I spearheaded the Sudan and Ireland Health workforce portfolio, applying the WHO global code of Practice by joining Sudan to the International Medical Graduate Training Initiative (IMGTI), build partnership between the Centre for Global Health-TCD and SMSB under ESTHER-Ireland grant and I successfully led efforts to build partnerships between the Federal Ministry of Health and the Health Service Executive, Ireland that was signed in 15th November 2017.
