André Siqueira, MD, PhD, is Head of the Dengue Global Programme at the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi), where he leads global efforts to accelerate the development of new treatments for dengue. A physician specialized in infectious diseases, he has over 15 years of experience in clinical research on tropical and emerging diseases, including dengue, malaria, chikungunya, and Zika. Dr. Siqueira is a senior researcher and consultant at the Instituto Nacional de Infectologia Evandro Chagas (INI-FIOCRUZ), integrating the Clinical Research Laboratory in Acute Febrile Diseases. He holds a medical degree from the University of Brasília, a residency in infectious diseases from the University of São Paulo, a Master’s in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and a PhD in tropical medicine from Amazonas State University. His work focuses on syndromic surveillance, therapeutic evaluation, and strategies to accelerate malaria elimination.
He has led and coordinated multicenter clinical trials and contributed to global research networks advancing equitable healthcare.
Dr. Siqueira has served as a consultant to the Brazilian Ministry of Health, PAHO, and WHO, particularly on malaria and arboviral diseases.
He is a board member of the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine and a member of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.
With over 100 peer-reviewed publications, he is a frequent speaker at national and international scientific forums. He is committed to strengthening research capacity in low- and middle-income countries and mentoring the next generation of scientists. Dr. Siqueira is trained in Good Clinical Practice and skilled in epidemiological methods, data analysis, and scientific appraisal. He has taught infectious diseases at Amazonas State University and worked in diverse clinical settings, including field operations. His leadership bridges science and public health, ensuring research translates into practical solutions for vulnerable populations. He actively fosters collaborative networks among researchers, health professionals, and communities. Based in Rio de Janeiro, he continues to champion innovation and equity in global health with the current main focus in developing effective and accessible treatments against dengue.
