BIO

I am Adedayo Michael AWONIYI an enthusiastic researcher (TWAS-CNPq PhD Scholar) from Nigeria, a doctorate research student with a full PhD scholarship from “The World Academy of Sciences & The National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (TWAS-CNPq)” based at the Universidade Federal da Bahia, Brasil (Institute of Biology – Ecology and Biomonitoring Unit) working with Prof. Federico Costa and Prof. Eduardo da Silva .

I have a strong interest in investigating rats’ travel distance within households in urban slum environments using dyed bait and genetic studies. My main research interests are associated with the slum environments and zoonotic diseases transmission brought about as a result of rats’ proliferation. My research project is motivated by the need to develop a more reliable and sustainable method of controlling/eradicating rats (carrier of zoonotic diseases).
