    Collapse overview
I’m a Zambian medical doctor and public health specialist with 19 years of health experience, including more than 15 years of research experience serving as co-Investigator or Principal Investigator on over 30 Malaria and HIV/TB studies on which I have participated from proposal development to implementation, while managing finances and human resources as I have taken roles of management for example in TDRC, I was Head of Clinical Sciences Department and at IMReT I was Deputy Director. As a PI or Co-PI, I have had to engage at the community level, providing health education and awareness raising among local populations. I have gained malaria experience, which also has come by working and interacting as a member of the technical working groups for operational research and case management for the National Malaria Elimination Centre. I have also participated in reviewing the National Malaria Strategic Plan 2011-2016 and then 2017-2021; worked on the mid and End Term Review for the Malaria program in 2009 and then 2016 respectively; worked as part of the team that revised the National treatment guideline in 2014 and subsequently working as a national trainer for the management of severe malaria and home management of malaria.
For HIV, I led a team of Scientists at TDRC on a number of studies that were providing ground for HIV Vaccine clinical trial preparedness, studies of viral diversity and neutralizing antibodies. Further, I participated in surveys that provide data for HIV epidemiology, the ANC HIV Sentinel surveillance. Other health system related studies include the REMSTART study with the focus on lay workers involvement in HIV and TB management. In addition to university graduate training, I have completed a wide range of short trainings and workshops, including management of programs for communicable diseases control in sub-Saharan Africa, pediatric HIV care, the new Malaria Treatment Policy implementation workshop, and advanced good clinical practice for clinical research experts.
Between 2015 and 2017 I worked as the Public Health Specialist for Luapula Province for the Ministry of Health, but further worked on part-time basis as honorary lecturer in Epidemiology in the Department of Public Health at the University of Lusaka, under the School of Health Sciences (2014 to date). I have also worked as part time lecturer at University of Zambia, Public Health Department, and Cavendish University (2013-2015). I continue to practice medicine with weekly visitations to health facilities.
From August 2017, I was promoted to my current position of Deputy Director for the National Health Research Authority
