    Dr Desire Habonimana is a WHO/TDR post-graduate fellow and Alumni affiliated with the School of Public Health at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Burundi. He has demonstrated expertise in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, implementation science and implementation research, improvement science, health economics and economic evaluations of health programs, project management, spatial analysis and geographical information systems (GIS) using ArcMap 10.3, mobile health (mHealth) technologies for implementation research in public health, process monitoring and impact evaluation designs and frameworks, adaptation of evidence-based health interventions and quality improvement projects using the model for improvement and the lean-sigma model. He has 6 years of work experience coordinating and managing public health programmes implemented in Burundi and funded by a variety of international donors such as The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria, The United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), The African Union Youth Division, The Bloomberg Initiative to Reduce Tobacco Use (Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation), The African Union Commission, The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and many more other public health partners around the globe. As per today, he is most interested in a career within an international or regional organisation that is implementing large-scale health programmes that involve the use of the science of improvement and the implementation science.
