    Collapse overview
I started my career as a laboratory assistant at the MRC Gambia microbiology laboratory and proceeded to Sierra Leone for medical school. I moved to Ghana at the outbreak of war in Sierra Leone where I obtained my medical degree from the Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. After medical school, I worked as a medical officer in paediatrics at the main teaching hospital at home in the Gambia before pursing an MSc (2007) and then a PhD (2013) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Following my PhD, I was awarded a WHO TDR fellowship and placed at the GSK vaccines Belgium where I worked with the Malaria Clinical Research and Malaria Epidemiology teams on studies for the most advanced candidate malaria vaccine, RTS,S.

My interests are in epidemiology and control of infectious diseases through vaccines to improve the health of children particularly in developing countries
