    Collapse Overview
    Collapse overview
I joined the Vector Control Research Centre, Pondicherry under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in 1985 as Head of Division of Clinical Epidemiology and Chemotherapy. I was involved in several ICMR and WHO/TDR funded projects on Epidemiology and control / elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis from 1985 until 2007. The research areas included clinical & parasite epidemiology, clinical trials, development of Rapid Assessment Procedures (RAP), Rapid Epidemiological Mapping, Socioeconomic research, mathematical models, evaluation of diagnostics etc.; which along with other research work carried out by the TDR Global team led to development of the National and Global Strategy for the Global Elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis. I was a member of the TDR Steering Committee on Applied Field Research between 1994-96. I have been a consultant Adviser to WHO/TDR for several consultative meetings.
After 2007, I have been working as Professor of Microbiology and Epidemiology in different Universities in Malaysia, pursuing my academic and research interests.
