    Collapse overview
Born in Brasilia (DF), graduated in Medicine from the University of Brasilia (2005), did his Medical Residency in Infectious Diseases at the University of São Paulo (2009), Masters in Sciences in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (2011) and PhD in tropical diseases by the Amazonas State University (UEA) / Fundação de Medicina Tropical Dr. Heitor Vieira Dourado (2014). Since January 2015, he is Researcher and Infectious Diseases Consultant at the Instituto Nacional de Infectologia Evandro Chagas (INI-FIOCRUZ), integrating the Clinical Research Laboratory in Acute Febrile Diseases. He has experience in medicine with an emphasis on Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, having worked as an Infectious Diseases Specialist in various scenarios (outpatient, inpatient and field activities), professor of infectious diseases at UEA (2009-2014) as well as have been acting in numerous epidemiological studies and clinical trials in infectious diseases with main focus in malaria and arboviruses, exercising the functions of investigator and study coordinator. He is trained in Good Clinical Practice and has competence in different epidemiological techniques (applicable to observational and intervention studies), data management, and data analysis and scientific appraisal. Member of Malaria Therapeutics Subcommittee, Ministry of Health of Brazil, as well as eventual consultant of the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization in Plasmodium vivax (specifically contribution to the Global Strategic Plan for elimination of P. vivax). He is currently in the Board of the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine and a member of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. He is a reviewer of several scientific journals and has participated as a speaker at national and international scientific meetings, with more than 50 scientific publications in indexed journals. His currently scientific focus is on the syndromic surveillance and management of individuals suffering from acute febrile illnesses, including the investigation of non-malarial febrile illnesses, multidisciplinary clinical characterization and differentiation of Zika and Chikungunya, including the evaluation of therapeutic candidates for these conditions, and on strategies for accelerate the path towards malaria elimination.
