    Collapse overview
I am the head of the biology and vector control unit at CIDEIM. Our group seeks to contribute to the
development of control strategies to reduce the incidence of diseases caused by pathogens transmitted by
insect vectors. My research was mainly on molecular and biochemical mechanisms associated with vector
competence and insecticide resistance. However, working in a developing country with high transmission of
vector borne diseases, made me to extend my research approach to understand the eco-epidemiology of
these diseases. I have worked in collaboration with experts of GIS, ICT, statistics and epidemiology to identify
entomological and ecological risk factors associated with Leishmania and dengue transmission.
